From risky crossings to safe connections—PRERONA stands with communities, transforming everyday life for 500+ families.
Before the construction of the wooden bridge, daily communication in Jotindronagar and Choto Vetkhali of Munshiganj Union, Shyamnagar Upazila was extremely risky. Narrow, unsafe crossings made movement difficult and dangerous especially for women, children, youth, and school-going students. During monsoon and high tides, accessing schools, markets, and essential services became a serious challenge. After the intervention, the newly constructed wooden bridge has transformed local mobility. What was once a daily risk is now a safe, reliable pathway, restoring dignity, confidence, and ease of movement for the community.
With the Implementing partner of PRERONA’s Locally Led Disaster Risk Reduction in the Bangladesh Coastal Region (LLDRR) Project, supported by Sharetrust and AVAS, this initiative is now directly benefiting more than 500 households. Women and children can move safely, students can attend school regularly, and the community feels more connected than ever.
